Life-Changing Disabilities
Even if a victim of snakebite is lucky enough to find a hospital with antivenom, most are left with permanent disabilities. In the hours it can take to find effective antivenom, a snake’s venom can ravage nerves, muscle, and tissue causing permanent deformities in hands and feet. Also, due to the economic strain of follow-up care, many snakebite victims are not able to receive the proper treatment they need in the month’s following the attack.
